Visit to GECT
Here are few photos taken during my visit to GECT on the Christmas day.

Suraj and me met in front of Thrissur Ragam theatre, and took an auto-rickshaw to GECT. The auto took us to the college via Viyyur, and I became excited and emotional to see those places after ten years. A newly constructed "bypass" road joins the Shornur road at some place and a new posh-looking school has come up on the way, but nothing else has changed. When we reached Viyyur, I looked at the array of transformers on the left side. Then we went in front of the various hostels - everything is looking just the same, as it looked ten years back.
There were few students playing in the ground, and there was a watchman (?) sitting in the room which was earlier used as college union office, who asked us who we were, etc. Otherwise, there was not a single person in the whole college compound. We spent around three hours in the college, roamed around through the various long empty corridors, departments, laboratories and compounds. Most of the workshops were closed, so we could just peep inside through few windows which remained open. We looked at the ancient monstrous generators in the electrical lab, and the pile of record books kept in the office room - nothing has changed in appearance.
We wanted to go to Computer Science department and old classrooms, but we were sad to see that the way to it was closed. Besides, it is no longer the CS department, but is the "School of Architecture" now! CS department has shifted to a new building constructed near the hostels.
I think Nostalgia is mainly a result of the sense of loss associated with ageing. During various times in my life, I have felt the Present as miserable and depressive. But when I think of those times today, all their bitterness go away; Each such period appears just as a chapter in life with its own properties and identity - nothing looks really too depressive. Out of many such chapters in my life so far, the GECT days still remain as the golden ones. Visiting the college again along with a close friend was a memorable experience. Who knows when will be my next visit? I clicked at every corner and took hundreds of photographs.
