Went home this afternoon and took rest for some time, and watched Onam programmes in Asianet. There was a question-answer session with the great actor Mohanlal. Somebody asked what is the secret (??) of his success. He told that it has simply to do with the kind of roles and script and directors he got...
Malayalam cinema has been gifted with many greatly talented actors, especially when we compare with the standards of movies in other Indian languages. Actors like Mohanlal, Nedumudi Venu, Gopi, Thilakan, Murali, Karamana Janardhanan Nair, Mammootty, Sathyan, Madhu, Atoor Bhasi, Jagathi and Narendra Prasad can be undoubtedly called as veterans. Then there are other talented actors like Jayaram, Srinivasan, Oduvil Unnikrishnan, Innocent, Sukumaran, Bahadoor, Shankaradi, Captain Raju, Devan, Janardhanan, Kalabhavan Mani, Mukesh, Jagadeesh and.. (the list continues...) Even the worst Malayalam actors like Dileep or Harishree Ashokan are more expressive than many of the so called heroes of Hindi cinema.
There are few Onam special Malayalam movies today and tomorrow in the TV.. But I have already seen most of them before.
Tomorrow I am going to Irinjalakuda for a three day vacation.
