A Cat

My apartment has a small balcony, which is now almost covered with snow. There is a full glass door to the balcony. Yesterday night around 12, I heard some kind of scratching noise in the glass. When I checked the balcony door, I could see a very large black cat in the balcony and it is desperately looking through the glass door. It might have been trapped in the balcony somehow, and may be now it is afraid to jump down. (My room is on the third floor of the building). It was very cold outside.

I didn't know what to do. I wanted to open the door and let it in, but I couldn't predict how the cat will behave when it is inside. It might be a wild cat or something (then the climate wont be a problem for it). I have also heard from my friends about the strict US rules regarding pets. If it is somebody else's pet cat, then taking it in may be a legal issue. I was not very sure about this. I tried making calls to Suraj to enquire this, but he was not there.

So, finally, the cat had to spend a night in the cold night. In the morning I checked the balcony, hoping that the cat might have somehow managed to jump down by then. But it was still there, and at the sight of me, it started jumping onto the glass door again. I was about to report to the apartment office, but by then a boy came, saying that his cat "Sophie" has crawled into my porch! The cat's sense of relief when the boy took it with him was just to be seen.

Have I been cruel?

Gone With The Wind

Yesterday I watched the movie classic Gone with the Wind on the TNT channel. An excellent movie. Vivien Leigh was excellent as the character Scarlet. The movie was made in 1939. Even after 62 years, it still is enjoyable. Probably that is the greatness of this movie.

Today I had an Italian lunch. Italian bread, salad, pizza topped with vegetables and olive fruits. It was not as bad as I thought it would be.
